One of our curriculum goals is to 'construct a model at the woodwork bench' and our new studio means we have a designated space to have woodwork available more regularly. Bev spent time organising and getting our new Studio ready and the children have been using it to make Christmas decorations. Some children have used the Hapa Zome method of printing with plants to create a Christmas tree shape on the wooden slice. They then chose their own decorations to add by glueing or hammering with a nail. Next term they will be introduced to different tools and by the end of the year they will be able to design what they want to make, select the tools they will need and join materials together.
