We have been learning how to stay safe using the woodwork hammer by wearing safety goggles, always watching what we are doing carefully and taking turns at the woodwork table. We start by hammering golf tees into the pumpkin as they are a simple and easier material to use. Now the children understand the safety rules we will start using soft wood to hammer nails. 
 

When we had covered our pumpkins in holes we cut them open to explore what was inside. The children were fascinated to scoop out the insides and were surprised to find so many pumpkin seeds!
