Chicks hatching

On Monday, 10 eggs arrived in an incubator! We didn't have to wait long for them to hatch because the mother hen had been sitting on them to keep them warm for over 2 weeks. On Wednesday, the eggs began to hatch and now we have 8 little chicks! We are hoping that the other two eggs might hatch too.

As well as the magic of watching eggs hatch, this experience has taught the children so much about life cycles, growth and Spring. This learning comes under the curriculum area named 'Understanding the World.' Children are taught about the changes that they see in the natural world. It lays the foundations for future learning in Science, Geography and History.
