Autumn walks

The children are visiting the beautiful woodland grounds of Oakfield School this week looking for signs of Autumn. They have experienced hugging trees whilst looking really closely at the shapes of the branches and leaves and the texture of bark. They have listened carefully to sounds such as the rustling of leaves underfoot and twigs snapping. In the woods there are lots of apples of different sizes to compare and a squirrel has even made an appearance! It's amazing how even a short trip out can enrich the children's experiences and provide lots of opportunities to learn and reinforce new vocabulary such as two of our key words this week, 'observe' and 'change'.
